Special cadre will be made for permanent commission of women in the army

A special cadre for women in the army is being finalized to make them permanent commission in many areas. Leaving the role of women will be a permanent commission in the remaining roles.

The information released by the Army said that there is a proposal to give permanent commission to women in various areas, including various posts in cyber and information technology, military police corps and service selection board.

Current status of women in the army

At this time, the Army only gives permanent commission to the Army Education Corps (AEC) and the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Department. Most of the women are recruited in the army as the Short Service Commission (SSC) officers and their term is up to a maximum of 14 years. Women in the Air Force have already come in the role of a combat pilot, which is seen as the most important position, while women in the army are not seen in important positions.

In order to provide equitable opportunities for the women in the Army, in the year 2008-09, the Naval Constructor Cadre and the Short Service Commission Officers' Batch of Education Branch were granted permanent commission to seven women officers.

What is a permanent commission?

Permanent commission in the army means that the said officer will remain in office till he retires. For permanent commissions, the National Defense Academy, Pune, National Army Academy, Dehradun or Officers Training Academy - Gaya have to join.

Only after getting the training from here, there is a permanent commission in the army. After passing from the National Defense Academy, the Army cadets were selected by the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, as per their selection; Navy cadets are sent to the Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, to the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala and Air Force cadets.
